These Fluke 116 multimeters are perfect for our classroom setting in our Instrumentation Lab in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. They are easy for the Freshman to use and are, importantly, robust. I am surprised how long the batteries last considering how much they are used in one semester. I would highly recommend them for a classroom or hobbyist setting.

Works great but handles on probes could stand to have better size and grippyness to them. Im kinda ham fisted so they seemed a bit small and squirrily to me. Otherwise the unit does as advertised.

I bought this meter because it has the low impedance feature, which makes working on ordinary building circuits easier. However, it's actually an excellent meter for working on electronic equipment, too, because of its ability to measure at the microamp level, measure true RMS voltage, and measure capacitance. It fits nicely in the hand and has a very solid feel. True Fluke quality at a bargain price.

It has a fast response time when I'm troubleshooting. I tried the clamp with it in Mvolt setting.(adapter clamp sold separately) It is not worth spending over $100 for it. The lowest measurement the clamp and meter will do as low as 1amp. I would get it used or wait for the price to go down. Anyhow, Great meter I like it.

This is nice because is has a backlight and top side probe connections. True RMS feature may also come in handy.

My understanding based on its spec sheet and talking to Tequipment and Fluke technical support is that the temperature accuracy is 1% =/-18 (i.e. 1% /- 1.8 degrees F., since resolution is 0.1 deg. F, the 18 translates to 18 times 0.1. So, at 100 degrees., you have an accuracy of -/1 2.8 deg. F. at 32 degrees, =/-2.12 deg. F.

Since this is marketed to HVAC people and temperature is important, this degree of accuracy is outside the boundaries of what I would like as a customer. I purchased it to replace a Fluke 16.

The old Fluke 16 I was trying to replace (good meter, providing it to other staff joining me) has an accuracy of =/-1% 1.5 deg. F over the range 14 to 75 deg. F. This was slightly better, but still outside what I wanted it to be. Thus we purchased the new one, expecting it to be better (hopefully) in the area of temperature measurement. It is not.

It has been sitting in my spare tool bag for the most part. We break it out once in awhile, but the Fluke 16 has a nice feature where there are not as many rotary dial settings, meaning we don't have to switch it back and forth so much to do our work.

I expect it to last a long time, even in heavy use. Well made and it does meet the spec for temp. measurement advertised. Just don't expect great accuracy for HVAC work.

This is quick accurate tester with great test leads. I use it mostly check AC volts and Ohms. The temperature sensor is a great tool to check digital temperature read out and replace if necessary. Saving massive repair cost caused by malfunction related to digital sensor.

This is a must have tester.

Great meter for HVAC-R. Too bad that doesn't have Non-Contact Voltage detection like 117. Not critical but could eliminate extra tool. Still great meter for the price. (4 around $130) Must have with tpak (accessory magnet/holder-need to pay extra). Fluke is Fluke.
