The ISFE is an invaluable add on to any oscilloscope in situations where measurements are to be made with different ground references, or on floating systems where a ground connection through the oscilloscope is undesirable. A typical usage scenario is one probe measuring CAT II mains voltage across live and neutral, the other probe is measuring a low voltage DC signal in a system powered by mains. Using an ISFE it is entirely safe to move the 'ground' clip of the second probe to any point within the DC system so you are not restricted to measurements referenced to ground. The ISFE is transparent and can be used on any oscilloscope, the only prerequisite is a 5V USB power source - usually taken from the USB socket of the oscilloscope but could be provided from other sources.
Input BNC Two input BNC jacks (black) have no exposed metal and are fully insulated to protect against electrical shock. This part can be connected with the source through proper probes or wires. Output BNC The output BNC jacks made of metal. While the device is powered on, do not contact them. These parts are supposed to connect with scope. USB Host Power supply interface. This is used to power the device on.

Meh.

Ordered this as a possible solution to a test rig that needed two separate isolated channels. The bandwidth is listed at 1MHz. I tend to disbelieve it, as I was noticing differences in the trace fidelity that look like harmonic distortion, and I don't trust it for accurate measurements of non-sinusoidal waveforms. Second, it's noisy. It's not really good for the less than a volt range, as it's tough to get a good trace. Third, it's discontinued. It would be good for low-cost isolated monitoring of low-frequency mid-voltage systems. Can't recommend it for much else.

Device Functions As Described But Not Much Else
1.0
Device is listed as an accesory for SHS8xx but the attenuation is 200X. SHS8xx scopes do not have a 200X probe setting. Also, as you can expect, a clean input becomes more noisy with the ISFE in use. The documentation isn't anything to write home about either. Neither of these reasons are the prime reason for the low review score. The low review score is because two efforts were made to contact Siglent with no response. My question was are they were going to update the SHS8xx firmware to match ISFE attenuation. Saying no would be better than ignoring the question. The real kicker is I found out at the same time that Siglent regularly scans ebay to block legitimate used product sales. You would think if they had the time to spend on ebay, monitoring their emails is something they could do. No amount of capability makes up for poor support. It is irresponsible for Siglent to list the ISFE as an accessory for SHS8xx scopemeters when the attenuation rate isn't supported.
