Pleased so far
5.0
I've used this device too little to give a fair review of all its stated capabilities. Certainly the communication with TEquipment, the ordering process, the fast shipping and the secure packaging were all excellent. This scope replaces a very old 20MHz analog CRT so there is a lot to learn. I do appreciate the very intuitive user interface. Months often pass betrween my hobby electronics projects and it is especially nice to return to equipment that is not overly complicated and doesn't require a re-education. So far it has been facinating to re-measure outputs and find signals my old scope missed entirely. I wanted a scope that costs six times as much but my budget forced a deep compromise. Nevertheless I'm pleased.

Nicely equipped for the price
5.0
I decided to finally buy a scope for use on home projects, but had a small budget. I knew I wanted a 4-channel scope and was happy to see Instek made a very reasonably priced one. I've used their other equipment at work and have been satisfied. This scope functions just as well as the Tek scopes we use at work, just with a much lower bandwidth. At some point I want to check it side-by-side. I also am pleased it came with four nice probes. I may regret choosing one with on 50MHz, but until then I'm very happy.

The Best 4-ch Oscilloscope in it's price range
5.0
I own both a Hantek DSO4072C and a GDS-1054B now.
The Instek is way more superior in many aspects.
the Manual teaches you a lot about some of the important details you need to know about the oscope you're operating. The FFT function is much smoother than Hantek and getting your way around the Menu is simple. the protocol decoder comes in handy when there's no logic analyzer around and waveform display is less noisy to other oscopes i've encountered.
The only thing I couldn't find how to use is the waveform search function which it seems is activated by some kind of license. all in in a nutshell I'm happy with my purchase.

Best Oscilloscope in it's price range
5.0
I own both a Hantek DSO4072C and GDS-1054B. the Insktek GUI is way more superior than the hantek and the company is still providing firmware support, unlike Hantek.
the FFT is way more smoother and the manual teaches you much about the capabilities. Hantek doesn't provide much insight about it's features and it's more like a guess game.
I'd also choose this over the 4 channel Rigol.
the only problem I encountered was that some of the features seem to be activated with a license only (eg. the search waveform function which there's no info about it on Gwinstek website)

Unbelievable features at a bargain price
5.0
It's hard to believe all the features in this 4 channel scope with deep memory for <$320 US. 20 years ago I specified deep memory Name Brand DSOs for my company that cost $13K each. This GW scope does everything that old scope could do and much more. It's lightweight, portable, color LCD, and easy to use if you are an experienced DSO user. I'm retired working PT and have used it on a company project and debugging cam shaft sensors on my son's car. My only complaint is the r/a IEC320 power supply cord did not fit tight in the socket. It wiggled out too easily causing the scope to power down. I replaced it with a straight-in IEC320 cord that fits much tighter and solved the problem. Main reason I chose this over competitors (in this price range) is the individual vertical knobs for each of the four channels.

Great value!
5.0
I bought this over the Rigol 1054Z because it has 4 separate channel controls, better FFT, quicker control response, 10M per channel capture capacity and the ability to remove the bottom and side menus to give the waveforms a full screen even though there's a small blue border around it. The only thing I sacrificed is the better looking graphics and the "analog' like persistence. That's not much of a sacrifice IMO. There are other scopes in this class I was looking at as well but settled on this from Tequipment.
I've only had it for a few days and I'm loving it, though still going through the motions of what it is capable of.
Being in Canada, we are at a disadvantage when it comes to the prices you guys south of the border enjoy which is why I decided to take advantage of the excellent price that Tequipment had on this scope. My biggest concern is that Tequipment uses Borderfree for shipping and customs, and as a lot of people know, this company leaves a lot to be desired to say the least. I took a shot regardless and received it in 10 working days. I guess I was one of the lucky few who had a decent experience with Borderfree judging by the absolute horror stories found online about them. Truth be told, I was really nervous about this arrangement but in the end, I received without incident. Other than the fact I have to ship it to the US for warranty, I am still happy about my purchase from Tequipment.

Fantastic Budget Scope
5.0
This is the best value in budget 50mhz 4 channel scopes right now. I choose the GDS-1054B over its close rivals for the individual channel controls and the cases larger size. Very attractive unit.
Now that Instek has common protocol decoding (I2C, SPI, RS-232) included like its closest competitor its a clear winner. Display is bright and sharp, controls are quick and responsive. Performance wise its a great basic scope with easy to use controls.
Only minor con is the Openwave remote software is rather dated. While the included binary runs fine on Windows 7/10 the Python based application is built around ancient components and will not run on a modern Linux system. Looking to fix that in the future.

INSTEK GDS-1054B Review
5.0
I have had the 1054B for several months and am very satisfied with it. It works exactly as advertised and is an excellent value. I bought it because it has four separate control knobs and a bit more free screen area than the competition.
My major negative comment about this instrument is the same one as with every one of its probable 400 competitors. The user interface is so MS DOS 3.1. To do anything requires a dozen key presses and locating and memorizing what each of all the tiny buttons do. This thing has an USB port. Perhaps some oscilloscope manufacturer will write an app so that a mouse can be used to move the cursors and select the parameters.
A drawback is that only eight measurements can be displayed at a time. If four channels are being used, one will be clicking the parameter buttons a lot if multiple measurements are needed.
The downloadable apps are pretty weak.
Four anyone desiring a four channel scope, this one is highly recommended.

very good 4 channel scope
5.0
I chose the Instek 1054B mostly for the independent voltage scale knobs. I'm happy with the scope. Instek I feel put a lot into it and it shows.
A couple of things did show up that aren't critical. The power switch in the front might push the scope back if pushed hard. I simply wrap a couple of fingers around the back. Also I put my scope away frequently so notice the power cord has a little give when inserting. I think the socket is attached to the ckt board not the frame and believe I saw a teardown video of such.
One channel trace Instek lists as pink. You could call it magenta or red. They are all very distinct. Dave of eeVblog showed on the Rigol that it's green and blue were very similar. That was pretty much a deal breaker for me concerning the Rigol.
10M record length each channel surpasses other similar scopes.
The traces aren't as bright at higher record lengths in the low usec timebases but brighten in low nsec. Instek told me that was normal.
I did find on record lengths of 1M and 10M on channels 3 and 4 the variable persistence except at infinite does not come on unless channel 2 is on. I've seen this on 2 scopes of this model. I believe Instek has an issue.
Without bundles, the Instek has 3 more trigger options. I didn't need serial decoding so felt it was the way to go.
The instruction manual is concise. It lacks a little in advance math only.
The FFT is better than my older model Siglent and takes the function out of the "toy" category.
So ease of use, display clarity, good font, picks up short glitches and such very well makes it a very good choice. The instek has many other little extras so overall it is a scope to recommend.

Instek GDS-1054B Good Choice
5.0
I purchased this scope for my former employee as a holiday gift.
I had previously purchased one for my self and wanted him to have a scope as nice as I found this one to be.
He has chosen a career path of IT but has hobby interest in embedded design and I hope he keeps it up.
I chose the Instek over the ?Reigeo? because there is a vertical gain knob for each channel which will mean a lot less navigating through menus while using it.

Pro grade at a hobby price
5.0
The 1054B does what the data sheet says it will do, its been essentially bug free, both OOB and with the latest firmware installed; its reliable, dependable, a solid measurement device as much I can trust it as a working tool like a Fluke multimeter. It suffers mostly in keying ergonomics and lack of functions against Rigol 1054Z: Z has selects on the same button whereas the 1054B requires a keypress of 2 buttons; 1054B lacks serial decoding, but not as bug ridden as the Z, were I can't tell if the DUT is faulty or the Z is. 54B lacks band stop and band pass filters as found on Rigol, but I never use it. Instek has not detailed what changes are in the latest 1.14 firmware, but I found out it now has a trigger out through the probe compensation port and much high wfms/s, I'm reading about 125,000 wfms/s. We noticed it has no NRTL cert, but its mainly used in CAT 1 or CAT O, so its not a practical safety issue. The design is more tall than wide, saving precious inches of bench space. The -3db is at 50 MHz but the roll off is not steep, and it works easily over 150 MHz. The FFT has enough resolution to be truly practical, among or the best in this class DSO. Most all measurements can be done in stop mode, so the scope can be optimized for fast acquisition, and filtering and analysis done as post processing. If you want a reliable DSO and don't need serial decoding this is it. If you need serial decoding, consider the higher model line DSO in Instek's lineup. Instek advertises its product reliability, and they continue to live up to that ethic.

I'm in Love with this oscilloscope!
5.0
I understand that this is scope is intended hobby/home us. In that realm, it more than exceeds my expectations. Here are some of my favorite features:
1. The beautiful and wide display updated fast and is very responsive.
2. There are individual controls for each of the 4 channels.
3. I have big hands and I appreciate that the controls are spaced very well without being too far apart.
4. The "workflow" with this device flows very well. I was up to speed with the controls with about an hour of time.
5. Network connectivity is pretty good. The device maps my shared location to a Z: drive on the scope. I can save data and images to the location with ease.
5. 10M memory on each channel!
6. I can go on and on about the features that I love, but read the specs and the manual. The manual is actually detailed and great!
This genre of oscilloscopes is getting crowded and I have tried a few of the usual suspects from Rigol, Hantek, Tektronics, etc. I did not use this model before I ordered it and I am totally happy with my choice. But here are a few things than can be improved.
1. I had on hiccup in the firmware that was shipped with the device. It caused the scope to lock up. However, after updating the firmware, not a single problem!!
2. The fan is a little loud.
3. The lettering for the buttons located on the left side of the screen bezel are really difficult to read.
4. LabView software is nothing to write home about, but it's a nice that it is available.
Even with the cons, this oscilloscope is a VALUE and a worthy contender in this genre of scopes.
Finally, this was my first order from TEquipment.net and everything from ordering to rocket fast shipping was fantastic!!! I will be buying from here again!!!
