This unit is exactly what I expected. The intensity meter is easily readable with plenty of data points to put into memory. It is a simple and easily navigable unit. Traceability to NIST doesn't exist but there is a small document that has the signature of a QA manager standing behind the calibration. The case is sturdily built to protect the instrumentation if mobility is required. All-in-all, a good product.

I would recommend this unit to anyone starting down the road to get more information surrounding R&D. For the money it seems to be the highest quality for the money. All the other units on the market are pricing themselves out of the opportunity (i.e. $550 plus). I am not certain if I would base research results off the unit until calibration traceability can be fully documented and traced to an internationally recognized body of standards.

Benefits vs Cost make it a high recommendation in my book for any Lab/R&D environment.

This piece of equipment gets the job done. It is easy to use and it looks like it gets the correct readings. I would have liked to see an interface to the outside world (PC), for continuous readings, which cannot be performed with this meter, only withe the more expensive model (which also includes an SD card slot).
What I don't like about this meter is the documentation it comes with:
a. the spectral response graph in the user manual is wrong!!! It belongs to a UV-A meter, and not to this meter, which is a UV-C meter.
b. the certificate of calibration is vague. It says: "...has been calibrated to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST/USA) or National Measurement Laboratory R.O.C (NML/ROC)". So, I don't get it; to which standard was the meter calibrated, the American or the Chinese? When? Where? What's the standard's number???

TEquipment Response: General Tools acknowledges the errors in the manual and a revised manual and a clearer test cert was sent to you. The unit is made in Taiwan and comes with a test certificate National Measurement Laboratory R.O.C (NIST is not available). The revised manual is now posted on the Documents tab.
