GWInstek Purchase
5.0
I've always been very happy with TestEquipment.net. They are prompt, helpful and orders go out very quickly. I would highly recommend purchasing from them.

Instek GPD-2303S Power supply
5.0
I wanted a small, accurate supply for bench testing and software debug. This caught my eye and fit the bill.
I like the extra digit and coarse/fine setting, helps when calibrating A/D inputs.
I also like the 'output' button for quick on /off.
I would definitely reccomend this unit.

Great power supply, especially for this price
4.0
Considering the price, this is a great little power supply.
The enclosure feels very solid and sturdy. It has vents on the sides and on the back, but not on the top where you might accidentally drop something. Based on a teardown I watched, this model is pretty well put together inside and out (I didn't personally open mine up). It's reasonably sized for a dual-output supply. If it's really too big for your table/workbench, it's probably fine to put it on its side (the fan is in the back), but I haven't tried that. Although the fan runs all the time, it's pretty quiet (only a little louder than a desktop computer).
The user interface is decent, and I like that it gives you four configurable voltage/current presets—that's a feature I didn't see on many other dual-output power supplies at this price point. The only complaint I have about the interface is that the voltage and current knobs change the values either slowly or way too quickly (depending on how quickly you turn the knobs). It's probably not a big deal unless you're constantly changing the voltage and current. The keypad beep is initially enabled and it's very loud, but you can disable it. Even when the unit is off, it remembers the most recent voltage and current and whether the keypad beep is enabled. The buttons do require you to hold them down for slightly longer than you'd expect. The output enable/disable button is very nice to have, and the output is automatically disabled when you turn the unit on, when you change presets, and when you enter or leave serial or parallel output mode.
As for the output, nothing seems out of the ordinary. It actually goes up to 32 V and 3.2 A, not 30 V and 3 A like the description says. It also can usually go down all the way to 0 V, although it does have trouble getting between 0 and 0.5 V with some low-current circuits. I didn't test whether it can output a full 90 W per output. The transformer has about four taps, and there doesn't seem to be any output droop when it switches between them. I used an oscilloscope to look at the outputs, and there's no overshoot or undershoot when enabling or disabling the output, nor are there any spurious voltage spikes when turning the unit on or off. Current limiting mode is reasonably responsive.
Note that the unit doesn't come with mini-grabber leads like you'd expect, just some heavy-duty alligator (crocodile?) clips that are pretty useless.
Overall I like this power supply a lot, especially the preset feature, and I'd highly recommend it if you're looking for a dual-output supply for under $400. I can't give it five stars because of the knob issue I mentioned, but it's definitely a solid four.
