Nano-voltmeter

Definition: A very sensitive voltage meter optimized to provide voltage measurements near the theoretical limits from low source resistances. It is different from a regular electrometer given that an electrometer is used in sources with high resistance. In addition, a nano-voltmeter has a lower voltage noise and drift.

Negative

Definition: A charged object that has a surplus of electrons.

Neutral

Definition: The conductor that goes to ground in an entrance panel.

Noise

Definition: an undesirable electrical signal from an external source that is placed on a desired signal.

Normal Mode Rejection Ratio

Definition: normal mode rejection ration (NMRR) defines how well the instrument rejects or attenuates noise that appears between HI and LO input terminals. Noise rejection is accomplished by using the integrating A/D converter to attenuate noise at specific frequencies while passing low frequency or DC normal mode signals.

Non-Polarized

Definition: A capacitor that does not have polarized terminals.

NTSC

Definition: The color television standard established by the National Television Standards Committee in the United States in 1953.  Distinctive feature of the standard was that it added color to the original black and white model.

Nyquist

Definition: In analag / digital conversion, the Nyquist principle states that the sampling rate must be at least twice the maximum bandwidth of the analog signal in order to allow the signal to be reproduced.
