The power of the 175 watt "Weller" was exactly what I needed for heavy-duty, large-gage wiring that "holds" its heat. Large and feels stout. "Weller" is a well-known brand plus local retail outlets only carry small wattage soldering irons. So I bought a huge one made by a respected brand: win-win
