High-grade Ethernet cables, Triplett Test Equipment which has been a U.S.-based designer and manufacturer of copper cable testers since 1904 decided to launch their own line of LSZH CAT6A cables.
Low Smoke, Zero Halgoen
Most traditional Ethernet cables have PVC jackets. Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH/LSOH) means the type of jacketing on the Ethernet cable is made of a thermoset compound, rather than a PVC or thermopastic polyurethane. The LSZH jacket is more durable, and is also safer than other types of jacketing in that it does not release hydrogen chloride if it burns.
A Bit More Tech
A common failure point on Ethernet cables is where the hard portion of the RJ45 plug (i.e., the barrel) ends and the strain relief (i.e., the flexible part that sticks out from the plug) begins. This is the area typically grasped and pulled when the Ethernet cable is being plugged and unplugged into a jack.
Repeated strain on this area causes the copper wires to stretch and fray. This stretching and fraying of the wire will cause problems with sending data through the cable.
To prevent this problem, Triplett’s Ethernet cables are designed so the barrel connector is all the way into the boot, rather than stopping at the boot. This design makes the cable more resilient to pulls and strains.
