Nice thermal imaging camera
5.0
Excellent camera, producing very dramatic images as I had hoped. Better sensor resolution than some cameras in the same price range, although less than others if you are ready to pay many thousands of $. I like being able to choose between the auto-scaling mode and the other mode where you can set the color scale range. This was the one issue, where it was vary difficult to select the lock and range icons with even a little finger. The solution was a cheap capacitive type stylus pen. The temperature estimates seem high by a few degrees, but I wasn't expecting a perfect thermometer. I'd like to be able to enter specific emissivity values rather than picking from the set of four choices - but that could be a future software update.

Good at first, but now disappointed
2.0
When I first got this thermal imager I really liked it and was looking forward to using it for work and around the house. I did have some issues with the app. It seemed to have a hard time connecting to my phone with the wifi which made it difficult to upload images to my phone. After having it for about a year and a half and only used on the job a handful of times it stopped working completely. I was on a job and got a low battery warning and it shut off, which I thought was no big deal. I plugged it in to charge but it wouldn't charge and no matter how many times I have tried charging it or turning it on it has just been dark screen and does nothing. I sent an inquiring to Seek Thermal and was told they won't inspect or repair these units. Disappointed after spending the money on it to have it completely fail after a year and a half of light and infrequent use.
TEquipment Response: Thank you for the feedback. Please contract us to help with getting the unit fixed or replaced. Reference this review. If the vendor does not help we can help.

Great Thermal

I am a home inspector and so far I live this camera. The ability to slide between a normal image and the thermal imaging helps be find the issues and then better show in my reports what you are looking at.

Great Camera
4.0
In comparing the Seek ShotPro to the Seek RevealPro, the RevealPro has the cleanest image with the least amount of noise. The ShotPro has a bit more noise in the image, but is still acceptable and works very well. Get the RevealPro if you want the least amount of noise in the image.
Get the ShotPro if you want the larger LCD, the easier to use touch screen, the wider field of view, the option to shoot video, and the analysis tools built into the ShotPro. Because I'm using the Thermal Camera for home inspections, the narrow field of view on the RevealPro is frustrating. The wider field of view is much better on the ShotPro.
Whenever an image is taken, the camera shoots an image in both the thermal and visible light at the same time. While I can't find the visible light JPG file anywhere on the camera, I can go into the tools after the photo is taken, select visible light image, and save that as a new image. I wish the camera did that automatically, but as least there's a work around.
The camera is easy to use and the fact that Seek added the analysis and adjustment Tools in saved photos is wonderful. I can shoot the shot in the thermal mode and later make whatever changes or add any extra analysis to the image after the fact. I like to save the image as a new file to keep the original data.
The video recording is wonderful and a real plus. The camera does record the image as 640x480 at 17 FPS (Frames Per Second). Looking closely at the video a single frame in the video may be repeated 2 or 3 times, so the final result is really a 7 to 9 FPS video. I had no problem editing it in Final Cut Pro X.
Overall I'm very happy with the camera, it does what I wanted it to do and offers several nice extras.

Almost a great thermal imager
3.0
I really wanted to really like this but its got a bunch of issues.
First off, mine came with the thermal image rotated more than a few degrees off of the visible camera.
I was able to fix this myself by 3d printing a lens cap and rotating the thermal lens back to normal.
The lens is coupled to the camera so it works but its hairy to say the least.
Then the wifi is more of a gimmick than a really useful feature.
I wasn’t able to get it to work at all so I sent the camera back to Seek.
They found no issue and while they tried to help, I don't think their support could figure it out.
The problem was the SeekView app instals on my iPhones at least with the Cellular Data enabled.
Well there's your problem. I had to figure that out myself.
They had no idea this was a problem but I see many people with the same issue so I don't know what to make of it.
The UI is a mess and doesn’t remember settings.
Many documented issues still exist so lets all hope for a firmware update.
All in all, even with the problems, its not a bad thermal imager and im keeping it.

Excellent cost/benefit ratio!

Constantly finding new uses for this fine thermal camera. It takes a bit of time to master its many offerings, but the end result is a highly sensitive thermal image with the ability to vary to amount of overlain photographic input, a considerable aide in locating concentrated thermal sources, like circuit breakers. So far, I can't fault it in any way, but would note that it takes a few seconds of on-off button pressure to activate the system.

Glad I bought it

I looked at a lot of thermal cameras before I decided on the Seek ShotPro and I'm happy with my choice. I've been using it for almost 2 weeks. It feels solid and the size and shape make it very portable. I like that the analyst tools are on the camera. I didn't want to have to download the images to a computer to process them. The touchscreen interface is intuitive and the thermal image's 320x240 resolution is great for making out small details. The 57 degree field of view was what helped me choose the Pro version over the less expensive regular version's 36 degree FOV. I can get my whole house in 1 image with the Pro but would have needed to take multiple images with the non-Pro. I've seen some reviews complain of noise in the images. Most of my images don't have noise and the ones that do still have all the information I need. I suspect the noise may be due to the sensor having such a high resolution and that they don't smooth the image with software. I consider that a good thing since smoothing could sacrifice accuracy for a prettier picture. If I set the camera to Precision Imaging Mode and adjust the high and low temperatures I can sometimes reduce noise when it occurs. According to the sensor specs the displayed temperature may be off by as much as 9 degrees F but the temperature difference between objects is accurate. I don't think this is limited to Seek sensors. I found more articles than I cared to read describing how difficult it is to use a thermal camera to get actual surface temperature. This is not a problem for how I use the camera. I only care about relative temperature differences. In other words, if I see that one part of the ceiling is 65 degrees and other parts are 60 I know there is a 5 degree difference. If you need actual surface temperature you may want to look at something like a non-contact thermometer. With the SeekPro I can definitely see where there is missing insulation in my walls and ceiling and I can sometimes even see ceiling joist and the wall framing. It's helped me know where to add insulation and where I don't need it.

This camera has removed the guesswork from aspects of home inspection; it does produce imagery that reveals studs and ceiling joists under certain conditions. I used it to find a copperhead in my backyard. It is great for what I do and I am happy with my purchase. Do your research and you won't be disappointed.

Great thermal camera for the price
5.0
Bought camera to document water damage to roof insulation in warehouse due to improper repairs to the roof. In that capacity it works great, and much cheaper than hiring someone to do it. It is fairly straightforward to use, though I'm not an expert on all the features, yet. While practicing with it, it did reveal that my wife was running a mild fever, and gave a relatively accurate temperature reading when compared to an oral thermometer.

As a home owner this works wonderfully
5.0
I got this to use around my house, checking for insulation issues and air leaks. It's worked really well for this. It also has helped me identify an overloaded circuit breaker that I found the previous owner put way too many outlets on. I've used it to help diagnose boiler run issues at my church. My wife is also looking forward to using it to determine hot spots on horse's backs after a rid to find out issues with saddle fits. I am by no means an expert or a pro, but so far it has far exceed my expectations.

Poor Customer Support
1.0
The Seek ShotPRO locked up after connecting to it via WIFI from my Note 9. I called Tequipment for support and they referred me to the Seek support group. The Seek folks never returned my phone call. I tried to setup an account on the Seek website, but the account creation process failed. The Seek website will not let me reset the password or create a new account with my existing email address. Now I am in limbo with no camera and no way to contact Seek customer support.
TEquipment Response: Thank you for the review. Please contact us we can help you with this problem. We can help support you on this unit and get you in direct contact with Seek to make sure they get back to you in a timely manner.

Overall happy with the product, seek's customer support seems to be non existant and email automated only with is annoying. My only complaint is the alignment for hybrid imaging is maxed out at -47 y, and still needs another inch or 2 more. Resolution is great for the money.

Good value for resolution & ruggedness
5.0
I bought this camera when it first came out and have had some time to use it. SeekFusion works well on air ducts and the built-in LED light won't replace a flashlight but not juggling light and camera in dark places to take photos is really handy. Multiple color pallets to choose from and I found myself locking the rainbow range (tap lock icon then temp) from 50-100F so differences stand out at the ends of the scale. I've also checked fridge/freezers, cooling of networking components (SFPs run hot), and the SeekView app works good even on an older Android tablet of mine. (No SD card slot to expand the stock 4GB, but with my tablet I can store more photos than I can use). Charging is easy with a USB-C charger, and if you need more time or have a dead battery can plug in a pack and use it while charging too. The only idea I have for improvement isn't really camera related--I wish they included a carrying case of some sort. (Sensor lens is recessed around rubber). Something like a Pelican case. Tip: If you lift the tab edge of the screen protector off with a toothpick you can cut off the tab and use it as a screen protector. Firmware updates are easy and unless you need to download the thermal data points for scientific use I doubt you'll find a better value at this resolution. No problems going from a hot indoors to cold outdoors and vice-versa. Hope that helps but if not I would just give Tequiment.net a call; their customer service is great here as well.

So cool and so much fun - a million uses.

What an amazing device at an amazing price. Seek is going to put competitors out of business.
It's simple to use and a good interface. I hand it to people, tell them what it does, and they are immediately discovering things. In the first few weeks I've had it I've used it to find heat leaks in buildings, diagnose uneven heating on my stove, monitor the curing of casting materials, evaluate space heaters, and a dozen other things. My Amazon reviews now often include thermal photos, even!
Despite the low resolution of these devices in general, I can see the individual heating element weaving through my car's seats!
It feels like a durable device.
The down side is that the WiFi feature is unusable. I can connect to the access point on the device, but the app doesn't show an image. There is no troubleshooting information available. The instructions are less than IKEA furniture (fortunately, the device is otherwise dead simple to figure out.)
Bottom line is that if you think it will be useful, you should buy it.

Awsome thermal imager, perfect for traveling
5.0
This thermal imager is a great balance of economy and effective resolution. It takes up far less space than tradition imagers and is very user-friendly. I also find the android device application is well built and a good companion for putting together reports.
I think this is a good alternative to a high-end imager when physical space and cost are limiting factors.

Part1 Review
2.0
Received my ShotPro this week.
I have major issues with it right now.
Giving it one star today because it does not work.
But I hope to have it resolved.
And I will edit this review based on the resolution of the issues.
Pros
1) Very good hardware build and a huge leap over the reveal series
2) Regular camera orientation vs the reveal (pointing orientation) was a big improvement
3) Touch Screen interface is very good and responsive.
4) Image quality appears same or worse than the Reveal though it is a wider viewing angle and you have to take that into account.
Cons
1) i took it for a test run with no issues and then upgraded the FW per Seek's instructions and now the ShotPro shuts down after 2 seconds on a full battery. I'm in contact with Seek now to resolve this But it should have worked out of the box with no issues. Maybe some hick-ups on a new release, but not a major flaw like this, I hope it is a FW issue that will be fixed. But for $699 i expect an IR camera to actually work out of the box.
2) SeekView App is mentioned, but it is not available yet.
I hope this is all resolved and I can give it 5 stars and a more complete review
