Finding it is very useful for my my needs in ham radio and side repair work plus toying with home built data units for the price. So often I had to find used equipment that is still working but for something new at this price and so far accurate to what is said with proper impedance matching I could say it is what I expected and a little more. Perhaps they will put a crystal oven in it to .5 or less ppm and it would be great. PSK FSK can't make it more simple. Its only been a couple months of operating it but Time will tell..

DG4062 review

A perfect function generator worth every penny. The frequency range of this equipment suffices for most applications except RF.

A vast selection of waveforms including bio-electrical and medical waveforms at this price is extremely useful for the current applications which are satisfied by this device. The ability to interface with a PC makes this an excellent choice for people who want to record waveforms directly from signal gen and DSO for further processing. The display is extremely big and clear.

A few minor drawbacks are that the package comes with just 1 BNC cable. It could have included 1 extra BNC considering that it's a 2 channel device. Also, to select a waveform from the list, one has to look for a small dot to the side, which is quite irritating. The selection could have been done using a highlighting bar.

An overall rating of 5 suits this device perfectly. Totally worth the price, very stable and versatile equipment in the lab.

Great function generator for the money!

We purchased 1 to try out, then purchased a 2nd shortly after.

Some of the menu structures take a bit of getting used to, but I love all the built-in arb waveforms!

The utility to run remotely from a PC is not very good. For serious remote control you may have to write your own scripts.

This waveform generator is an excellent value! No problems controlling the generator over USB using LabVIEW or from the front panel.

This device is picky about USB drives (found out after speaking with Rigol directly about firmware upgrade).

Firmware upgrade can be tricky. The BIOS update does not follow the status indications given in documentation. Firmware upgrade fixed several quirks I found while using the generator.

Good Arb Function Generator

I have had the DG4062 for 2 years and it is Great!
Dual Channel, I have even used it to generate CAN protocal test messages. Option to increase frequency range.
Frequency counter , external trigger, and External 10MHz reference input. 2 thumbs up.

Rigol DG4062

Good value for what it is and easy to use.
16384 points can be somewhat limiting on the arb.
I didn't like the software that came with it.
But the documentation was decent enough to get me started on my own.
Firmware updates were a pain it can be pretty picky depending on the usb drive.

Still was worth it for me.

Rigol Signal Generator DG4062

This device is a good value. It is sturdy and reliable and was very reasonably priced. I gave it three out of five stars because it could be much better, but it could cost much more as well.
Pros:
Dual channel capability
Good range.
Decent accuracy- I notice that the signal varies a bit, got example when producing a 60Hz square wave and a pulse width of 1.00 mS, the signal output varies by plus or minus .01 mS.
The user interface is relatively easy to use.
Affordable price.

Cons:
There is no way to store waveform configurations on the device. This means that every time you turn it on, you have to configure it for the waveform you want. This takes time and is annoying. Supposedly you can save configurations on a remote PC, but that is not convenient.

When using square wave pulses, the rise and fall times are larger than you would expect. The device will inform you that the minimum rise(fall) time is some fixed value that you cannot change. This can be a problem, and it limits the device's utility.

The device is NOISY. The fan is much louder than my Tek 3014, which sits next to it. I notice that it is a relief to turn it off.

All in all, I recommend it, but I would pay more for a less noisy unit.

Rigol DG4062

The Rigol DG4062 Function/ARB generator has been found to be a useful addition to my test equipment stack. It works exactly as advertised.

I only have a minor complaint in that the setting of any parameter such as Freq, Ampl, Offset, etc. with the rotary control is awkward at times because the device does not remember which decade the setting cursor for that particular parameter was when returning to that setting from another setting.

For example, Select "Freq" in the menu, push the right arrow key to set the adjustment in 1Hz increments, then change the frequency value.

Then select "Ampl" in the menu and adjust the value. After that, select "Freq" again. The cursor (a dot above the selected digit) will shift to the highest visible digit instead of returning to where it was before.

This makes it difficult to make fine adjustments in frequency and amplitude or other parameters without unnecessary fiddling with the cursor position.

Amazing functionality for the price.

After several months of use, we have found this unit to be one of the best pieces of equipment we own.

Pros: Lots of features and variable functionality. Very accurate, very low price for the number of features, dual output works great. can't complain about any of its functions they all work very well.

Cons: connecting and controlling via computer isn't very easy if you don't have Lab View. only comes with BNC to BNC cables so you have to buy different probes if you want something else.

Major Issues: the only major issue is that if controlling this unit with a computer it has a different .dll with the same name as some tektronix devices so you can't control this with the same computer as a tektronixs device at the same time.
