The PHENIX line of Benchtop and single piece AC Hipots consist of a single-phase high voltage transformer, voltage regulator, controls, and measuring devices, all contained in the same cabinet.
Safety Features
To provide optimum safety for the operator, each test set is provided with:
- Metal enclosure with provision for ground lead
- External interlock provision
- Zero-start interlock
- Input circuit breaker with indicator
- Overload circuit adjustable by means of a potentiometer from 10 to 110% of rated current; includes reset button with indicator
Supply Voltages
The standard supply voltage is single-phase, 120 or 220* Volts, 50/60Hz. Other input voltages are available as options.
High Voltage Output
The output is manually adjustable with distortion less than 5%. These hipots are designed for a duty cycle of 5 min. ON/15 min. OFF.
Cabinet
The benchtop models are housed in a rugged steel enclosure. Handles are provided for easy lifting on smaller models.
The high voltage transformer is air-insulated. The voltage regulator is a variable autotransformer, air-insulated and provided with a limit switch for zero start interlock.
The low voltage arm of the output-connected voltage divider feeds the voltmeter. Total measuring accuracy is better than 2% full scale (analog units). A currentmeter is connected between return/ground and the low potential side of the high voltage winding. Total measuring accuracy is better than 3% full scale (analog units).
An adjustable electronic current overload circuit with total response time less than 30 milliseconds protects the test set and test object.
An optional “Burn Feature” is also available. The Burn Feature is a current limiting device that is connected in series with the primary winding. This feature offers the ability to burn the faults in the test specimen at a controlled current level. This Burn Feature is available with a rating from 25-100% of rated current.
