Ferrous Debris Monitor
The ANALEXfdMplus is a highly accurate debris monitor, designed to measure the ferrous wear metal particle contamination within oil and grease samples. This instrument utilizes inductive coil magnetometry to precisely measure the un-combined ferrous wear debris within the sample, regardless of the size of the wear particles present. This technology only measures metals which are magnetic, which is important because those particles are often the first sign of wear. For instance, many lubricated compartments are primarily made up of iron. If abnormal wear is occurring, an increase in iron wear debris will typically show up first. It is, therefore, vital to have an instrument that accurately monitors the trend of ferrous debris occurring in the lubricant. A significant increase indicates abnormal wear conditions and prompts further investigative action.
The design of the ANALEXfdMplus is suitable for both on-site and laboratory testing, providing flexible use for a wide range of industrial and marine applications. Contained in a fully portable case, and supplied with an optical 12 V convertor, it is ideal for use in remote locations where full laboratory analysis is not possible. The ANALEXfdMplus provides the user the ability to successfully monitor equipment even in remote areas, preventing costly machinery downtime.
The ANALEXfdMplus utilizes a unique sample adaptor system to measure from any of the following sample sources:
- 50ml Bottle
- 10ml Syringe
- 5ml Syringe
- 5ml Test Tube
- 4ml Grease Pots
Samples may be obtained for measurement using a variety of apertures, offering full user flexibility. Ferrous debris is measured directly from the oil or grease in the sample container, providing a quick, simple, and clean method of analysis. Testing time typically takes less than 10 seconds per sample and the results are displayed in parts per million (PPM).
The data from each test is stored in the internal memory, which may then be transferred to a host PC via a RS232 interface. The data is entered using a simple and intuitive touch pad screen, featuring a full alphanumeric keypad. The screen is equipped with a backlit graphics display, for clear user prompts and easy viewing of the metal particle oil analysis results. The data can then be fully analyzed and trends easily monitored by importing into a database.
