High quality soldering station
5.0
I'm very happy with this purchase. The build quality is excellent. The instant set-back stand works well. The soldering iron handle is thin and comfortable to hold with its rubberized grip, and I love the short tip-to-grip length which improves control for very fine soldering tasks. The iron is ready to use after initial power-on in about 7-8 seconds, and recovers from the set-back temperature in about 3 seconds. The PID controller (or whatever they use) seems to be tuned for the smaller tips, as the temperature goes a little wild initially with a gigantic tip that has a large thermal mass. It settles down after a few seconds and is stable after that, so it's only an initial transient problem. The interface is clean and simple -- set the temperature you want or pick a preset. I had to get out the manual to figure out how to change a few default settings, but it's easy enough and shouldn't need frequent adjustment.
I have to admit that my first soldering task with this station wasn't for electronics. My wife has this antique wall-hanging candle holder thing made out of sheet metal that's soldered together. The hanger on the back came off and needed to be soldered back on. My previous temperature-controlled iron couldn't handle the job, but this one had no trouble at all with heating up all that metal. It held its set temperature surprisingly well. My brief experiments soldering on a big ground plane showed similar great performance.

High-quality soldering station

I'm very happy with this purchase. The build quality is excellent. The instant set-back stand works well and will extend the life of the tips. I have to admit that my first soldering task with this station wasn't for electronics. My wife has this antique wall-hanging candle holder thing made out of sheet metal that's soldered together at the edges. The hanger on the back came off and needed to be soldered back on. My previous cheap temperature-controlled iron couldn't handle the job, but this one had no trouble at all with heating up all that metal. It held its set-temperature surprisingly well. Great soldering station
5.0
I'm very pleased with this purchase. The iron heats up very quickly and the temperature is rock-solid, even on a high-thermal-mass part. The user interface for daily tasks is intuitive and easy to navigate. Changing settings required diving into the manual to figure out, but that shouldn't need to happen often and it was clear enough. The handle is thin and the rubberized grip is comfortable. I love the short tip-to-handle distance, which makes micro-soldering chores easier to manage. The auto-set-back feature works well and it heats back up in just a couple seconds after taking it off the stand.
I have to admit that my first soldering job after unboxing it was not for an electronics task. My wife had this old antique wall-hanging candle holder thing made out of sheet metal that was soldered together on the edges. The mounting bracket came off the back and needed to be soldered back on. My previous temperature-controlled iron couldn't do it, but this one could. I think having the heating element integrated into the tip, as well as the high power output, made a big difference.

Very high quality, easy to use and durable. Buy this soldering station first & keep it long term - believe me its cheaper than replacing cheap chinese units that break

Works great
5.0
The iron is clearly the best one that I ever used (coming from an older Weller, and a Radio Shack junker). Handle is thin and comfortable to hold, and doesn't get hot as advertised. Tip is close to your finger which makes precise work easy. Iron heats up fast. I had a minor adjustment issue with the setback stand, and support at Pace was both responsive and helpful in resolving that. Setup (menu) is cryptic but you work through it once and then I have no need to further fiddle with it. The design is a little clunky with the up/down buttons arranged left/right, and the the select button up to the left. Also blue button on the blue background is not a great choice. The unit itself is solid, and more compact then I expected from the product photos. Expect it to last a life time for me, and in time I will probably add tweezers and a single channel desolder station when they make one.

Excellent soldering station and very easy to use
5.0
I found this very easy to setup and use, I basically unpacked, plugged everything in and inserted a tip and was soldering inside of 10 to 15 minutes. The temp stays very consistent through the soldering processes and I like the instant setback stand that lowers the temp when I am in between soldering joints. I would highly recommend this product for all level of soldering skill, I have been assembling electronics for over 40 years and have worked with many different brands of soldering iron/stations and this is the best I have owned so far.

Great soldering station
5.0
I'm very impressed with this soldering station. The controls are easy to use and program. The tip heats almost instantly (about 5 seconds to 370 C). The instant setback works fine, and has a programmable delay. The tips seem to be of good quality. The unit comes with a tool to remove and replace hot tips, and a heat-resistant pad to sit them on.
