Fantastic Iron
5.0
I have used more expensive irons, and this one is better. Starting with the lightweight but solid feeling handle, that feels good even after a couple of hours. The grip to tip distance gives great control even in tight areas. The cord is flexible without being too floppy. The tips are easy to remove and replace without the need to power off and wait for cool down. the main unit is of aluminum construction with an easy to read LED display and easy to control temperature buttons. It heats the tips quickly and concisely with little overshoot on 1st heat up and is very controlled from then on.
I came from a Hakko iron and this is far better than that. I hope they add a few more tips for the collection, as I liked a couple of styles from the Hakko that I would like to get
one minor upgrade I would like to see is the cord plug in on the main unit (and by extension on the cord). On a device that is built as solidly as it is, the plastic connector seems a little bit out of place. I have been using it a few months now and have had no issues the connector but it would be nice to have a solid feel when it locks into place.

Great Soldering Station.
5.0
I've soldered for over 40 years using the major brands. I bought two of these units to supply my work-at-home bench. I am well pleased with the operation and heating of the tips. The ultra fine tips (1130-0040-P1) I use for 0402 SMT parts on my RF PCB's deliver great heat, even to the "grounded side" of my SMT pads. I love the setback feature in the stands, it really saves the tips. I'm thinking about another ADS200 with the soldering tweezer attachment as a future purchase. SO glad I went with the Pace and not other brands I've used in the past.

Great station!
5.0
The Pace was an upgrade to my 30 year old Vellman station and at firstI had bought a Hako but was not happy with the user interface so I returned it for the Pace with the auto setback holder and chose my own tips. This is a great station! Very solid, all metal, US built and a easy to use interface with 3 presets. Hako can't come close. The tip holder is very comfortable and well made. The station goes from room temp to soldering in about 5 seconds and when it is in the auto setback mode, it is to temp before you reach the joint and you are in position.

Clear winner in this class of soldering stations!!
5.0
Purchased to replace a 10 year old Weller. I build vacuum tube guitar amps with frequent long pauses between soldering components. The setback tool stand is awesome vs the Weller which cooked tips pretty quickly. Cuts the heat 50% and man does it heat back up to temp fast, typically its ready by the time I position the iron and am ready to solder the component. Love the BEEFY all metal construction. Love the shorter overall iron length when working in tight quarters inside an amp chassis. Love the longer cord vs the Weller. Love the interchangeable tips. The only ding I have is I have to be careful to fully insert the iron back into the stand, its fallen out a few times when I only partially inserted it.

Quick heat up
5.0
Bought this is a result of several YouTube reviews. The price was right and it is a high quality unit with fast heat up time. I like the set back stand since it reduces the tip temperature to help increase tip life. The simple to use stem-erasure setting is excellent, unlike some other units on the market. I also like the fact that it is made by a US company.

ADS200 An Excellent Soldering Station
5.0
The ADS200 is the second solder station I bought from Tequipment, the first one was Chinseium made and fell out of the heater before I could even turn it on. Tequipment made it very easy to return and purchase the ADS200 which is an American made marvel of a soldering station. I was impressed immediately that everything worked perfectly. All parts were manufactured very well and the software doesn't require memorizing the manual.
Great operation, lowers temperature will idling and with the instant set back stand it responds in the time it takes to go from stand to work. Amazing !
I will only buy from Tequipment they are so responsive you would think they work for your own company.

Best soldering iron
5.0
I have used several temperature-controlled soldering irons until now, but this product has the characteristics of an induction heater and temperature control and is very responsive.
Even when soldering on a wide copper foil plane, the solder melts quickly enough not to feel the high heat capacity.
I recommend the Ultra Performance Series tip.
The special tip shape and high heat capacity design provide the best reaction rate for temperature changes.
I can't believe this low price with this absolute performance!

Why did I wait this long?
5.0
I've been using a cheap Chinese solder "station" with ceramic heater for 6-7 years and getting by. Decided to buy a PRO station and the ADS200 checked all the boxes. It heats up in just a few seconds. Temp is exactly on. Heat recovery is instantaneous. Even soldering 12ga silicone wire only takes a few seconds at 350 and I don't melt any connectors. Previously I was cranking the Chinese station to 420 to even have a chance. When using on small stuff the bent tips are perfect and they clean right up and stay tinned perfectly. Love the short reach from the finger grip area to the tip - it has superb control. Built like a brick outhouse. I have the set back at 15 seconds since it comes up so fast anyway. Tip changes only take a few seconds.
Reasonably priced tips and made in the USA!

Great station with poor packaging and some quirks
4.0
Pros:
- Quick warm-up thanks to in-tip heating
- Great tip assortment and pricing
- Instant setback prolongs tip life
- Decent aesthetics
- Made in the U.S.
Cons:
- No audible cue when the tip reaches the set temperature or recovers from heat loss; you have to look over and check the display. A configurable beep would be nice.
- When the preset button is first pressed, the station always jumps to the first temperature preset rather than to the next one in line. (For example, if you're currently at preset #2 and want to move up to #3, you must hit the button three times: first to go from #2 to #1, then to #2, and finally to #3.)
- Instant setback is triggered by a mechanical switch in the stand's handpiece holder. While the switch is rounded and you can tell PACE tried to make it easy to actuate, if you're not careful, it's possible to insert the handpiece in a way that won't fully depress the switch.
- The unit comes in weak, ugly packaging (essentially a glorified shipping box) with poor internal padding that's easily damaged in shipping.
- The handpiece cable comes folded flat rather than coiled in a circle, causing bends. Fortunately, the cable is very pliable and can be straightened out with some effort. (Oddly, the setback stand's cable, which is much less critical, does come coiled round.)

Works well!
5.0
I had a chance to compare this to the Hakko FX-951 and Metcal PS-900. The Hakko soldered pretty well but the control interface is bad; if you never need to adjust anything it would be okay. The Metcal ran a bit too hot for what I was soldering, and you can't change the temperature (it's fixed in the tip; and I think there are just three choices with those) so the results were not so great. The Pace ADS200 soldered the best of the three, and you can readily adjust the temperature for perfect results. I think it also heats up the fastest; it takes less than six seconds to go from 70 degrees to 700 degrees. I am very happy with the Pace ADS200; I bought one for my home lab and after using it I got another one for at work!

Heats up so fast
5.0
This is my first production grade soldering station. I can't believe how fast this unit heats up. I'd say less than 5 seconds. It always heats up before I'm actually ready to work. :) Also great is the price of the tips. Most seem to be around $15 here on tequipment.com. The MultiWave tip is awesome for drag soldering SMDs with lots of pins, I'd recommend picking it up. The build quality on this unit is amazing. It's all metal. This thing is industrial. I'm really happy with it and glad I chose it over the Hakko FX-951.

In awe of this machine. Absolute Unit!
5.0
I solder thick wires pretty regularly with an analog station at work and it does OK, but it can be a pain. The wires can absorb so much heat that the iron's thermal recovery can't keep up, and the iron sticks to solid solder so you have to crank up the heat. I tinned some thick gauge wires with this iron for the first time and it instantly poured in so much heat that it burned the insulation back too far and the wire got too hot to handle where I would usually hold it. It was total user error of course and it made me feel like a noob all over again. Needless to say the power is taking some getting used to.
I have the Instant Setback stand set to 1 second and it reheats from the lowest sleep temp to 350F before I can grab solder and get the tip in position, 2 or 3 seconds max. The tip-to-handle distance is very short and the aluminum handle is easy to grip, like a chunky pencil. What really amazes me is how quick it makes every job. Every procedure takes less time and you start to feel like your moves get more precise like a surgeon's, only your patients are electronics and much easier to deal with.
I chose this over the Hakko FX-951 which is similarly priced and has similar features like cartridge-style tips and sleep stand, but I think Pace's UI is much better than that of Hakko: think changing temperature with simple up and down button presses vs. navigating a clunky "80's alarm clock" interface. Pace also has password lockout instead of a plastic key that could get lost. Pace is American made, and the build quality is excellent. The tips are inexpensive ($10.xx) and I've read that they last a long time. If that's true, then Pace has the lowest cost of ownership. The power may not hang with the likes of RF units like Metcal or JBC, but those are way out of my price range.
TL:DR This iron makes other modern reasonably priced temperature-controlled stations seem weak by comparison. It is just on another level. Thanks for reading, DG

Very impressed with this soldering station. I wish they weren't that expensive though. It beats the 937D station which is all that we used around here up till now. The question is, Is it worth 6 times what the 937D is? Time will tell. The sleep mode is really sweet.

Pace ADS200 Soldering Ststion
5.0
Even though we have only had the Pace ADS200 station for a few days we have found that it superior to other brands (brand W and brand H) that we have used. We were looking at JBC but the consumables were 3 to 4 times the cost of the Pace tips. Using the unit is a dream. We have the auto setback cubbys and we set them to the shortest time to setback as the iron comes to temperature and stabilizes amazingly fast. This product IMHO is the best product PACE has produced even when you consider that their products are nearly always best in class. When teamed up with the excellent service of the Tequipment.net folks how can you go wrong. Highly recommended!

Great Soldering Station
5.0
The ADS 200 is a great soldering station. I have been looking for a reasonably priced soldering station with high performance for a long time. This exceeds my expectations. It seems very well made. The tips are reasonably priced. I have not had any issues with the handle getting hot, which is a problem some of the older Pace units had. And in traditional Pace fashion, it is made in the USA.

Top Quality Soldering Station
5.0
I recently purchased the Pace ADS 200 and several tips. I could not be more happy with the quality and performance of the station. The tips reach temp in 3 seconds. The station is simple to program for the set-back timer. The ISB stand is a great compliment to the overall performance and ease of use. If you want the temp up press the up button, down for temp down-simple, and convenient for the operator. The base unit and stand are solid, heavy cast metal or extruded aluminum. The handle is comfortable and very easy to control for SMD work under a microscope. I love this tool! Why would you buy anything else for your soldering needs? Get one and you will be satisfied for years to come.

Top quality / built so well!
5.0
I love everything about this unit. Do yourself favor and spring for the instant set back stand. It is solid, heavy, and everything about it feels rock solid and top quality. The handle stays cool even after long use and is compact and easy to maneuver, the tip selection goes from tips that can transfer heat quickly to small precise ones to get into spaces that would require a micro soldering iron. The user interface is simple and clean, if you want the temp higher press the UP button, if you want it lower press the DOWN button. No need to deal with blinking digits and pressing a button to move which digit is blinking and all that mess that I've seen competitors products use. Simple and easy. It had 3 presets which can be toggled at the touch of a button to quickly go between your 3 favorite temps as well. Tips are easy to change and it includes a nice tool to do so without burning yourself. From the second you pull it out of the box you will know you made a good choice, I love mine. It displaced another branded unit I used for years and thought was unbeatable.

Awesome replacement for my Hakko iron!
5.0
I have used both Weller and Hakko irons for years, due to them being an older technology and a bit cumbersome when dealing with SMD components I decided to give Pace a try again. Their older units have handles that get hot, and are uncomfortable to hold. Not so with this unit, the soldering I have done over the last few days has been amazing! The handle has remained cool and the ease at which you can switch tips is blazingly fast. The iron gets to temp in about 3 seconds from power on and keeps that heat even when soldering ground planes. I am glad I made the purchase and am looking forward to purchasing more tip styles down the road as my needs change. If you do purchase this iron, be sure to also purchase at least 1 tip, their is not one included in the box. Thanks!
