Description
The BA310POL series from Motic are powerful polarization microscopes for use with transmitted light. Designed for the examination of birefringent samples in mineralogy and petrography, the BA310POL can also used for research with synthetic materials, as well as educational and industrial applications.
Illumination is provided by a 6v/30w Halogen lamp, with adjustable field and aperture diaphragms enabling users to easily create homogeneous and repeatable illumination. Together, these increase image quality by reducing stray light and increasing contrast. The field diaphragm also plays a key role in Conoscopic observation.
The BA310POL contains a pre-centered stage, 160mm in diameter, with a continuous 360 degree scale in 1 degree increments. This provides sample orientation and enables semi-quantitative measurements. Furthermore, high precision ball bearings ensure smooth rotation, as well as precise positioning of the test sample. The stage also contains a chemical resistant surface, hard coated to withstand abrasion.
Users will find a fully rotatable polarizer with 90 degree click stops, contained in a sub stage condenser carrier. The unit’s intermediate tube also contains several items – a Bertrand lens, compensator slot, and an analyzer. The analyzer is fully rotatable, with a scale in 1 degree increments, and fixing screw to help lock the best positions. The Bertrand lens is both focusable and centerable, and the DIN compliant compensator slot can be used with any of Motic’s optional compensators. These range from first order red and quarter wave plates, to quartz wedges.
The BA310POL also includes EC Plan Achromatic objectives. Made of high quality optical glass, these objectives contain a multi layer lens coating for increased contrast and image quality. Combined with a fully corrected tube lens, the BA310POL provides an optical intermediate range without any colored fringes.
Digital documentation with the BA310POL is made easy with the Moticam, Motic’s own line of digital camera. A perfect accessory for any trinocular microscope, the Moticam are available in resolutions up to 10MP. There is also a line of research grade cameras, the MotiCam Pro (CCD), for users requiring maximum sensitivity and color fidelity.
