The Metcal MFR-1300 is a powerful, two channel desoldering system. Containing an internal pump, the MFR-1300 does not require an external source of compressed air, making it a cost effective solution with a small footprint. And with 0.7 bar (21" Hg) of vacuum suction, it handles through-hole desoldering quickly and easily. Each system includes a desoldering pistol with a large capacity, easy to change solder collection chamber to ensure minimum downtime. The pistol can also be easily converted to a pencil grip for additional control. Metcal offers a wide range of desoldering tips for nearly any application, available in many shapes, sizes and temperature ranges. The MFR-1300 uses Metcal's SmartHeat technology. SmartHeat establishes and retains heater idle temperature by virtue of Curie effect inside the heater core. This phenomenon occurs at the atomic level and consequently, idle temperature cannot shift over time nor can it be altered by the operator. Accordingly, the system requires absolutely no calibration.
I see there are several versions of the MFR-1300. How are they different?

How are each lettered group different from each other? For example, DFP vs DCP?
I have this question too (2)
For each one, the identifier is the second letter, either F or C. Each group has a different maximum temperature. The maximum temperatures are as follows: • F = 790° F • C = 880° F
Do I need shop air for the desoldering function to work?
No, you do not. This product contains an internal pump, therefore, it does not require an external source of compressed air.
I want to get desoldering nozzles for my MFR-1350. Which ones are compatible?
The MFR-1350 comes with the MFR-H5-DS desoldering tool, which uses DxP nozzles. These are several versions of each, which can be viewed through the links below. • DFP - FR4/Fiberglass for most standard applications • DCP - Ceramic for high thermal demand applications
