Purchase experience of Instek GSP-730
5.0
Instek GSP-730 , as I have seen, is the best choice as a small lab spectrum analyzer in price and performance. TEquipment offered it with very competitive price and fast delivery. i am happy with it really!

Great Benchtop Tool for the Radio Hobbyist
5.0
As a ham op for over 40 years with an interest in communications from long wave to the satellite bands, this rudimentary spectrum analyzer, covering 150 kHz - 3 GHz is very useful for a number of things, including radio repair and alignment, assessing harmonics, adjusting TV antennas, spotting openings on HF/VHF/UHF bands, monitoring ionospheric conditions, assessing amplifiers, satellite dish alignment, you name it. The price ($899) fit my budget as other SA's covering this range cost a few thousand dollars.
It has pretty much all the features (e.g. markers, peak search, trace selections, autoset, variable attenuation, peak/marker tables) of higher end SA's but with less intricacies. It appears to be marketed for educational use but definitely has a use for the radio hobbyist.
I am very satisfied with this product and think tequipment.net is a superb company to deal with.

Great spectrum analyzer for the price, with limits
4.0
One of the cheapest spectrum analyzers available on the market, but definitely limited on some functionality.
The minimum sweep time is quite long, which can make it difficult to capture brief events.

GSP-730
3.0
This instrument is ok. But I do notice that sidebands in Amplitude Modulation (AM) measurements done with the GSP-730 are usually very uneven in power level. It would be nice if they improve the measurement instrument so that it can make better measurements of AM signals.

Works Great
5.0
I've had the GSP-730 for almost a year now and have used it often. My need for this device is probably different from most other users as my primary interest is in the efficiency of Amateur Radio mobile antenna installations. I use the GSP-730 to measure the Field Strength of the mobile transmitted signal over a two wavelength range.
This is my first experience with a Spectrum Analyzer, but friends of mine that are VERY familiar with them tell me that this one sets up very easily and is on a par with the HP/Agilent type devices....except for one thing - the price. In a side by side comparison with an HP Spectrum Analyzer, the difference in readout was not significant enough to be concerned about. I use it in the field and power it with a 26AH SLA battery that feeds a pure sine wave inverter. The GSP-730 has performed flawlessly for me and I look forward to many more years with it. I can't recommend it highly enough. Buy one; you won't be sorry.

Great Instrument for the Money
5.0
Lowest cost Spectrum Analyzer you can find on the market and still takes the measurements you need. A little wonky in the interface and the sweep time isnt the fastest and the Resolution Bandwidth isnt great, but it does the trick for bluetooth measurements.
Spectrum Analyzers are way overpriced anyways. This instrument is bringing them down to where they should be.

Great performance for the price
4.0
Not the fastest, or the most accurate Spectrum Analyzer on the market, but does the bluetooth measurements that we need. This instrument gets a bad rap because of its marketing as an educational tool, but we are using it on the factory floor. I automated the instrument with the RS232 port and its working very well. As a low cost brand for manufacturing, I LOVE Instek.

GSP-730 EDU USE
5.0
Our lab recently purchased Instek GSP-730 for RF spectrum processing. It works well as far as now. This product won't provide high data rate processing but it has a relatively low price. In addition, the manuals and CDs have impressive guidance to new learners.

Instructor

I teach Electronics/Telecommunications and have several GSP730s and GRF1300s in my lab class. They are an excellent training combination at a very affordable price. In the past I could never have had all of my lab stations equipped with spectrum analyzers and 3 GHz generators. My students learning experience has been enhanced tremendously. I would not hesitate recommending these instruments, they are great.

Incredible Value
5.0
After hauling around heavy CRT spectrum analyzers to troubleshoot L-band Satellite downlink issues, the GSP-730 is a relief. It has more functions than I require and, at this price, I bought one rather than renting one when I needed it. I also find the display is better than the CRT spectrum analyzers that I have been using. Unlike some of the Satellite-Specific spectrum analyzers, I can also troubleshoot OTA TV and Cable TV distribution issues. (I found the best price on the GSP-730 here at TEquipment.net)

Bang for the Buck

This is a great spectrum analyzer for he price point. It is overall quite small with a large enough screen for easy use. I have used this both i the filed and in the shop. If you are looking for a good product with not too many bells and whistles, this is the one for you.
