Mobile Iron (FX-601)
5.0
tequipment was great. I used paypal and still received e-mail status updates from purchase to delivery.
I've put this iron in a dry box stored in my car as my new go-to mobile soldering iron for Arduino style project. Using an AC-AC converter in my car, I'll power it for about 10 minutes and it's _NOT_ affected by the AC conversion. I had a Weller WP35 that I actually like better, but for some reason when plugged into the converter the temps rise and fall (that slow breathing/pwm effect). That is not a problem with this Hakko.
The only draw backs of this is that it's bulky and has a nearly useless locking option. The wire of this Hakko is nice and thick but that also means it's not as "luggable". It also has a locking option but I'm not too sure that given the audience of this iron how realistic that option is. The way I look at it, removing anything this iron doesn't really need can only make it thinner.
As a plus (I guess) is that it takes hollowed tips. Ultimately, you can have a nice little container of your design with the identification perks of a drill bit case with strong retention due to hollow tips allowing an inner support structure (using wood, or possibly a 3D printer).

Great for an all-in-one iron.
5.0
I own this as a secondary iron that I can bring with me away from home, and also to demonstrate to folks that you can do perfectly good work with a simple, one-piece soldering iron. While I prefer my full-fledged Pace station, this Hakko does what it needs to do, and manages to do it in a relatively compact and comfortable package. I have recommended it to many friends as a 'need to solder occassionally' tool, and all have been pleased.

Great Soldering Iron
5.0
I am a hobbyist and a relative beginner when it comes to soldering. My experience with a $15 soldering iron nearly convinced me that decent soldering was set aside for an exclusive class of individuals. While a bit more of an investment, this iron restored my confidence in soldering. The Hakko reaches temperature fast and makes soldering connections quick and easy - two areas in which my previous soldering iron lacked. The tip length suits my soldering style and the ergonomics fit my smaller sized hands well. I highly recommend this Hakko for anyone who has hesitated investing in a decent soldering iron.

Hakko FX600-05
5.0
Tried this soldering iron on the advise of a friend. Well it's one of the best purchases I've made. I do stained glass and used to use a soldering iron with a temp controller, but not now. This iron produces smooth and quality lines. Thanks

Great budget iron
5.0
The difference between this and the $10 25-30 W iron you get at your local big box store is night and day. It used to be a 5 - 10 minute wait to heat up the iron. This one is at temperature in under a minute. As an added bonus, the temperature is adjustable. If you're like me, and couldn't justify spending over $100 on a Weller soldering station, get one of these before the clearance sale ends!
