Hakko FX-600 – Portable Soldering Iron (74W)

Mobile Iron (FX-601)

5.0

tequipment was great. I used paypal and still received e-mail status updates from purchase to delivery. I've put this iron in a dry box stored in my car as my new go-to mobile soldering iron for Arduino style project. Using an AC-AC converter in my car, I'll power it for about 10 minutes and it's _NOT_ affected by the AC conversion. I had a Weller WP35 that I actually like better, but for some reason when plugged into the converter the temps rise and fall (that slow breathing/pwm effect). That is not a problem with this Hakko. The only draw backs of this is that it's bulky and has a nearly useless locking option. The wire of this Hakko is nice and thick but that also means it's not as "luggable". It also has a locking option but I'm not too sure that given the audience of this iron how realistic that option is. The way I look at it, removing anything this iron doesn't really need can only make it thinner. As a plus (I guess) is that it takes hollowed tips. Ultimately, you can have a nice little container of your design with the identification perks of a drill bit case with strong retention due to hollow tips allowing an inner support structure (using wood, or possibly a 3D printer).
