I struggled with solder wick on certain repairs. So I got some no-name desolder iron from that site named after a river. That one made bad smells when plugged in and did not do a clean job. So I bit the bullet and got the FR301. Wish I bought it years ago. This makes desoldering a fun activity. Not an emotional rollercoaster as with prior methods. It makes repairs mcu faster since I don't spend 15 minutes swearing at my tools and myself afterwards. Only downside is that there is not a light visible from the back end to let you know the status of the device. There is an LED but its on the front bottom, pointing away from you. Also the little metal thing to rest the iron on is a joke.
