Hakko FM206-DSS 3-Port Rework Station, with FM-2024 Desoldering Tool, FM-2027 Soldering Iron (x2)

Its okay, and recommended

4.0

The heatup and ready to go speed of the soldering gun is ridiculously fast. On the other hand the desoldering gun, is ridiculously slow (obnoxiously slow, even between sleep to run mode). It takes lots of patience, but I can get around it, when I completely unplug sleep mode and do the temps manually. Lets talk about the fan noise, oh my g-d. Its exactly like being inside a flying plane! Not kidding. And its not automatic either, its just always running no matter what. I have to keep the unit off between projects because its so distracting. The desoldering tool uses paper capture capsules, which is more superior then what I've seen with plastic versions on other tools, cause the plastic capture capsules all crack apart. The paper ones last forever and are easily replaced (multiple in pack) for cheap vs the plastic (single). Overall, the unit works and performs its job like a champ, I can't fault it for that. Is there better out there, maybe, but I haven't tried them all. I personally like the design and it looks and feels industrial and well thought out in many areas. I'm sure there were engineering compromises made to make a solid tool, with that I think the benefits definitely out way the cons.
