Needs to be placed quite close the work (preferably face-down), so it takes up more valuable bench space than a tank-and-hose system would, but it's far cheaper and works pretty well.

Essential piece of equipment

This is an essential part to my bench. Whether I am tinning my iron, or soldering a board, this works great. The fan is strong enough that it sucks all of the smoke in, but at the same time, is also quiet. The filters are also replaced easily - they just pop right out and are pretty inexpensive. After awhile, they get a fair amount of flux and smoke residue all over them.
