Great Clamp Meter

I selected the Fluke 325 for four reasons (in no particular order): 1) small rugged profile with traditional Fluke build quality. I wanted a compact, easy to carry meter. 2) measure AC and DC current. Very useful for home and auto applications. 3) fast response time on the continuity test. Having erratic or slow beeps when checking continuity is a major irritant for me with other meters. 4) Fluke accuracy. I considered similar meters from other brands that were less expensive but couldn't deal with the common review complaints of erratic accuracy. Having a meter that provides erroneous readings is worse than no meter. Yes there is a premium for a Fluke, but for me it's worth the benefits.

I am very happy with this meter. It measures both AC and DC current with the clamp. I've tested the type-K thermo-couple and it correlates to my other thermometers. The probes are not lab-grade - I would describe them as very basic; but they appear of decent quality and durable for filed work. The meter comes in a small, zip-up bad with the typical yellow Fluke moniker on the front. This is useful for including the meter in your tool kit. Note that this meter is intended for field work - not lab work. Make sure you understand the resolution specifications and measurement capabilities; they will not rival your bench meter (I have a 289, and 87 on my bench). But this meter will do things in the field that a lab meter won't. For example I find the MAX/MIN and clamp features useful for diagnosing circuits that trip breakers. Is it an overloaded circuit; or a worn-out breaker? This helps you answer that question quickly.

Purchased Fluke 325 DVM for its clamp on DC measurement capability. Checked DCA measurement accuracy at currents below 100mA. It is not spectacular, but still useful (10 to 20% against calibrated shunt). At current above 1Amp accuracy is better 1 to 2% against calibrated shunt.

we only use fluke meters which we have not had any problems to date
the only problem with this unit is fluke has made the case so small you
can hardly fit the meter and the leads. we have not called about the case we received with the meter had a broken zipper which is hard to carry. i suggest a little larger case which we always had in the past
