Flir repaired both of my units and they work fine now, possibly I had an early production problem. I like them, use for closer up hunting, not the long range stuff you see on videos. For the price, I would say that they are excellent after being re[aired by Flir Well worth the money, perfect 1st Thermal

Major flaw with Flir PTS233

I bought two of these, one failed totally after my 2nd shot at night with a 22LR.

It is in the repair depot now, so I missed the hunt that I bought it for.

Now I find that as a Mac user, I have serious problems getting the computer to recognize it as an external hard drive so I can upload the videos to my computer.

It works fine on a pc but neither of my macs can see it.

After 15 to 20 tries, I did find it once before, but it has never worked with scope #2 that I still have here.

The repair department can only tell me that it is a 'known problem' with macs.

I do like the basic scope function on the scope that has not failed, but having to use a pc for upload would have been a reason for me not to buy in the 1st place.

If any Flir users have figured out how to solve this, I I would appreciate some feedback

New PTS233 Thermal scope

I have played with it and used it on a hunt once, overall I am pleased. This is my 1st thermal so I do not do exactly what to expect. My only concern is that the image seems to freeze every 15-20 seconds, like the refresh stops working for a tiny period of time. If scanning, this makes the image jump from one spot to the next, leaving a section unseen. I will look into this on Monday. If it is a flaw that cannot be fixed with software, I would not recommend this. If all thermal scopes do this or if it is a simple fix, I would say it is a good starter thermal

For the product just flat amazing. You get the quality of a good flir product, for the price of a cheaper brand. That being said once you start using it, it will take some practice to get used to the viewing. Now for the web site they did good at getting me the product faster then competing sites. That being said, they failed to inform me before I made the purchase of the item. That it was currently OUT OF STOCK that would be my only complaint. Great product and great web site customer service
