Best iPhone Accessory
5.0
Received the Flir One Pro iOS for registering for a Level 1 thermography certification class. At first thought it was a gimmicky IR camera but soon realized it’s true value and capabilities. It’s now the first IR camera I grab when headed to class or working at a job site.
The Flir One Pro does everything my Flir C5 camera can do, in a much smaller footprint. I really like that IR images are saved on my iPhone for immediate review and use. HVAC student and clients alike are in awe at the IR images I’m able to take using the Flir One Pro. This little device has made my facilities management job so much easier, I’ve used this camera for finding water leaks, overheating breakers, overheated motors, refrigeration leaks, lack of insulation, wet insulation, and the list goes on. Having this IR camera in my pocket has DSC
Only drawback is the battery life (approx 45-60 minutes). Charges easily using a USB-C cable. Unit doesn’t draw power or charge when connected to iPhone.
Great tool for size, nothing but pleased.

Pretty good tool with minor issues
4.0
This does a pretty darn good job. I was able to see water damage and insulation problems pretty easily. I have had the app lock up a few times while using it, and when you are scanning things, it can get laggy at times. Once you get what you want in the picture and take the picture though, the information you can get from it is good. They are even developing apps to help homeowners fix things like insulation problems. It did a pretty reasonable job of showing me where my issues were with the windows. I thought I had some leaks in the frame, but you could clearly see it was outside the frame. I took a look from the exterior and sure enough, the caulking had pulled away from the windows and there was an open gap. I wish it was as easy to access those upstairs windows as it was to get a picture of the issues.

a few small issues
3.0
overall works well; just a couple issues: the app keeps turning off while using in exterior temperatures in the 20s F. I am looking at building exteriors and it works for about 2 minutes, then I have to put it in my pocket, warm it up, and it works for another ~2 minutes. That is annoying. Also there does not appear to be a way to get the temperature scale to show up in the pictures.

Great for Beekeepers
5.0
I am so happy with my FLIR ONE Pro attachment. The moment I walk into my bee yard I can see where the bees are in the hive and the size of their cluster, without opening up the hive. I can see how warm they are keeping their hive even when it is freezing outside. I love the FLIR ONE Pro and have done many presentation telling other beekeepers about your extremely easy to use, affordable and efficient product. The only negative, I wish I had ordered it when it was on sale.!! Thanks

It would be nice if there was an online manual
2.0
I am a somewhat amazed that there is not a proper manual for this. I was expecting Flir Systems to have a good online manual that was detailed, but what they have is very skimpy and incomplete. The Flir one pro is beyond a doubt a lot of bang for the buck, you would have to spend 1,200 for the same capabilities in a dedicated handheld flir. I have searched and searched and have not found anything that goes into detail about how to adjust the Flir One to accomplish the various type of jobs I need to do with it. I will plow on and try to figure it out myself, and will update if I find a resource to share. I bought this from TE Equipment because I like to support people that know about the products they sell, though after I received the Flir One, and was frustrated by the lack of a manual, I checked out the Amazon reviews, and there were plenty of others (probably like me, not very good about figuring these type of things out) that are pretty dumbfounded by the lack of a good manual.

MUCH BETTER THAN EXPECTED!
5.0
Bought this to analyze thermal bridging in new homes and seek areas of air leaks around the structures from inside and out. It works so much better than I thought and from both inside and out. Yes it works and is great for my travels to review energy use in new homes. Best bang for the money, bar none!

Excellent Tool
5.0
What an excellent tool for finding missing insulation and roofing/siding/windows leaks. I use to have a handheld ($1,600) back in my water restoration days. This is sooo much better. I love the MSX features - being able to have an image and the thermal combines makes it easy to identify the area you are inspecting. Thanks Flir!

An excellent affordabtool for mapping temperatures
4.0
The FLIRONE PRO is designed for iPhone and includes a dual camera – one for infrared capture and one normal camera that helps detect edges for better subject identification. The module simply plugs into the Lightning connector at the bottom of the phone and their app may be downloaded from the iOS App-Stores. A short USB charging cord is supplied with mini USB that plugs in next to the power button.
The plug is unique in that the length is adjustable to accommodate different sized protective cases on the phone. I had to adjust mine out a bit in order to fit properly. A handy cushioned storage case is included in the $399 price. I found the fit to be a little tight with my plug adjusted outward, so inserting the plug first and then rotating the module into the foam cushion seems to work best without undue strain on the plug.
Connection between the FLIRONE PRO and mating app went smoothly. The module is turned on by pressing a small button on the bottom for about 2-3 seconds until it lights orange, after which, it blinks. However, it takes several seconds for the connection to be completed – you need to be patient. The unit is turned off with a shorter press of the button. I also find the iPhone battery gets drained quite a bit faster than normal during use. Battery charge time is approximately 40 minutes and operating life is 1 hour.
The app includes controls for adjusting visible or IR cameras, palettes, distance to subject, temperature range, IR scale (lockable), and selfie mode. You can also set the camera to video (frame rate 8.7 Hz), photo (JPEG), or time-lapse modes. There is a decent built-in “help” mode that explains all the various controls and settings.
Specifications are impressive. The unit will measure from -4 to 752 degrees F (-20 to 400 degrees C), with up to three touch-adjustable spot meters or six user definable temperature regions (with 0.1 degree resolution). The IR camera thermal resolution is 160 x 120 and visual resolution (from the phone) is 1440 x 1080. The unit may be focused from 15 cm to infinity.
It’s easy to use, simply point and click. There is a touch-controlled temperature cursor (spot meter) that may be set to any point on the screen to read out temperature in degrees F or C. I find the automatic temperature scaling seems to work just fine for normal use. In my normal work as an engineer, I’d use this to map out the temperature profile of a circuit board. The visible camera attempts to apply “edges” to the IR image, which assists in locating various components on the board.
I noticed a few things that could be improved. At close distances, the visible and IR field of views doesn’t exactly match up. Also, the temperature cursor (spot meter) is rendered in such a light color that it’s difficult to read over the brighter heat map colors. Finally, if you are used to holding the phone in the normal horizontal position (with the volume controls facing up) the subject will be recorded upside down. This would be resolved by turning the phone around and keeping the FLIR module on the right-hand side.
The FLIR module is also an excellent tool for determining thermal leakage points within your home. It's easy to find areas in the walls and ceiling where there is a lack of insulation. It shows up quite well as a violet colored area in the image.
FLIR offers several third-party apps, among them, one for using the camera as an IR viewer for outdoor use at night. There are a handful of others, as well.
It’s also a fun toy for taking IR images of your friends and pets.
In summary, I’m impressed with the quality and usefulness of the FLIRONE PRO. Much can be learned by infrared imaging and the performance appears to match FLIR’s other handheld cameras. With the exception of the issues noted previously, I feel this is a useful addition to my troubleshooting kit. Recommended.

Flir One Pro

Very impressed with this FLIR product. I am a mechanical engineer and plan to use this for my work. The app give you a lot flexibility that the handhelds don't. It is a little more awkward to use than a handheld but that is not an issue for me. The MSX and point/rectangle/circle features are pretty dang cool.

Sick! Distance is better than I expected. It seems to consume the top end of its battery pretty quickly, but it seems to hold a lot more power than I first thought. FLIR has a few apps, but I've just been using the FLIR ONE app which gets the job done. It makes you create a login before you can use it, maybe you can do that online beforehand, but it's easy enough. I recommend using this on an iPad. The adjustable connector height works great on my iPhone and iPad with different cases. It briefly disconnects and reconnects every couple of minutes of use, but the image pauses for a moment while doing that. You can hear the lense (auto-focus?) click twice, which is the same as when it turns on for the first time. If I loosened the connector by accident it almost always comes back after unplugging and plugging it back in again. One time I had to kill the app first. For how often I use it and the short period of time, just turning it on and plugging it in has always worked for me. You cannot charge it while it is on, so you won't be able to run it continuously without breaks to charge. It seems to charge pretty quickly too.
