Very Impressed, Easy to use and Excellent Results

Needed a unit to locate Ceiling and also floor heat grid wires for a remodeling project and Ceiling fan installations in multiple rooms. Also figured once I purchased I could also use it for performing an energy audit of my home to locate problem areas.

After it arrived I was very impressed how easy to set up and use. 2-minutes tops and I was in business. The results for the heating wire was beyond impressive, couldn't have asked for more.

Regarding the energy audit it is equally amazing how quickly I was able to find a few windows that were not properly insulated and sealed with minimal temperature difference. Will only get better as the winter weather sets in to spot other problem areas.

Great results at a very reasonable price point.

The extender that comes with the kit is a good idea if you have any kind of heavier duty case on your I-phone or I-pad. Works great with both types of Otter box cases. Without it you would need to take the I-pad or I-phone out of the case for the camera to plug in properly.

iOS Lightning extender

My son's house had flooded back on March 08 of this year. We were wanting to use an infrared camera to make sure we were dry everywhere be rebuilding. I had the Flir one camera to go on my I phone but needed an extender so I wouldn't have to take off my lifeproof case. I had the larger iPhone 5S model previously. Upgraded to a iPhone 6S so purchased new design. It now is usable on my iPad Air too. The unit is simpler to operate and much lighter in weight. My only problem is that the Lightning port in my Livelloo Mermaid underwater case requires the same dimension cord end as supplied by Apple. The extender dimension is too great to fit into the port. Bought unit for boating. Phone case needs to be removed to use Flir One.

The extender fits fine in iPad Air case, but Livelloo Mermaid case port only fits original lightning apple cable. The cable end measures .300" x .185". This requires removing the underwater case each time. Bought item for boating. Should be fine with Otterbox or Lifeproof cases. I had upgraded to iPhone 6S and enjoy the 80' dive capable case.

Well with a Resolution of 800 x 600 the hybrid images are at the state of the Art, the connector was designed for the iPhone without any protection, that is only possible by field unexperienced office people, because if you work in the construction field, then you would prefer eve two protection around the iphone instead of none. And you would appreciate to work up to 8 hours with one single charge too, so this is a weak point of the device, you will need more than one if you want to do some serious work.

I'm in the restoration business and have used this device attached to my ipad. The quality of detecting seems to be as good as a lot of the more expensive cameras, but the biggest key is that I can have my guys report back to me with pictures immediately with and email of pictures, and they also can be directly uploaded to our dash system. This puts pictures in an accessible point instantaneously, and you can distinguish what your looking at easily. Customers are overly impressed with the technology when I show them where the moisture is. For the price, it is well worth it.

I'm not sure how the FLIR usb connector is made, but from my experience, the mini usb connector on my charging cables tend to become loose after repeated use. So, although I prefer android, I got the ios version due to this reason.

There is noticeable lag in the video, but not too bad and the automatic temperature calibration can be annoying sometimes. Hardware-wise, the dongle is solid and the carrying case is very usable. I've not used other thermal cameras, but the FLIR one works very well. Very useful around the house to check for leaks, heat-sources, miss-behaving wall-warts and so much more.
