Works fine

Not worth the money or time - IT IS JUNK
1.0
I bought this unit - the Extech 445713-TP. It is a low quality and over priced attempt to calibrate and measure temperature and humidity. The remote sensor mentioned is a 18 inch of stiff cable to the senor. The unit has a calibration capability but is extremely difficult to calibrate. 18 inches is not what I call a "remote" sensor. For temperature calibration they recommend that you place the unit "...in a stabilized room (at) about 70 F..." and set the reading for the temperature of the room - I AM TRYING TO CALIBRATE THE EXTECH TO KNOW THE TEMPERATURE OF THE ROOM! This is the all time worst process of calibration I have ever seen or heard of - it is just plain stupid - it is called recursive logic. For humidity you will need to purchase the Extech calibration kit for $43 which I did. The kit was not in stock even though Tequipment showed it in stock. The calibration kit was dropped shipped from some location in the east and arrived 5 days later then the temp/humidity device. Using the kit is EXTREMELY difficult to do. The calibration of humidity devices depends on placing the humidity sensor in a temperature stable saturated salt-air chamber. The two containers that arrived were both filled incorrectly. The salt, such as sodium chloride, (table salt) must be in a very specific mix of deionized water and the salt. The magnesium chloride mix (container # 1) was almost rock hard and I had the shake the container vigorously for 20 minutes to see ANY sign of a liquid, there were drying cracks in the salt - the water lever was way too low. The sodium chloride container was more than half water and had way too much water in the mix. Both containers were made in CHINA! The standard, essential, professional mix should have the appearance of wet sand. NO WATER should be visible but not rock hard dry either. The slurry mix should flow but no water should be visible on the surface!!! As a result of these faulty calibration kit containers, I saturated the sensor with to many measurements of the water-salt mix with too much water and had to a apply a 5 hour dry chamber (10% humidity) reset to the sensor. After working with this system for over 8 hours, I am convinced the entire measurement device and calibration kit was a total waste of $100 and I am not going to do business with Tequipment again.

Digital read numbers perfect size even without wearing glasses. Does not take up much room on the desk, but can be wall mounted if needed.
