Good meter, when working

This is an excellent device, in concept. Paired with a calibrator (or when purchased pre-calibrated), this can be left out for hours to collect data on nuisance noises for use in court. However, these seem to be plagued with issues. One arrived with the battery compartment broken (which is the primary structure of the entire meter), the other one failed with a strange error that Extech couldn't figure out. The one that did work only worked for about 2 weeks. Maybe I got a couple of lemons? If it will work though, the software is great. A very compact device.

Great for intended purpose

This is excellent as a datalogger. With the selectable capture rate you can collect only what you need. The only thing it leaves to be desired is the capability to expand to an SD card. If you capture at the max rate (50ms) it must be tethered to the PC running the program, and has to be restarted/saved manually every 8 minutes. Includes a mini disc that has the software, but you can download it directly from their website as well. Works on Windows 7, I cannot confirm for Windows 10.
