I am a Supermarket Refrigeration Contractor in upstate NY area with 30 plus years in business I have refrigeration service contracts for stores and here a quick true story scenario I get a call for low receiver alarm and spent around thirty five to forty hours about three long days at a bigger supermarket store prob about 350k sq ft building I was using the regular 1000 dollar approx portable leak detectors and had no luck I couldn’t find the leak anywhere that I had looked so that’s when I went to one of the refrigeration supply house managers And said were can I buy the best Freon leak detector. The manager looked at me and said “it’s not cheap but I had a lot of good feedback on the Bacharach IR bag leak detector”and that’s when I purchased the Bacharach Bag IR Leak Detector and went back to the supermarket with the issue and it pulled me to a spot in the corner of the store were there were no cases but the ppm reading on Bacharach detector was the highest I think it was 3 ppm so I went and got a scissor lift and went up about 20 ft removed ceiling tile and ten feet above the drop ceiling tile at about 30 to 35 feet up from floor was the leak it was from a piece of 3/8” threaded rod that had been installed for a hanging a sign over the bakery area that was put up during the original build.it looked like . I don’t usually leave feedback for products We buy but I figured for the money and time this piece of equipment has saved us I had to give credit were credit is due. It is all its advertised. having a portable PPM meter can be very useful. we use it before and after remodels and on new stores to verify leak free for ourselves and customer. will be buying another
