Not as good as the one it replaces

We have many of the 5491A models in use here and they are exceptionally good meters, rarely fall out of calibration, and are easy to calibrate when needed. No so for the 5491B. The use of cheaper materials on the face has resulted in peeling label fronts, due to a rough work environment but the 5491A units are not peeling off after many years in that environment. After just 6 months both of the 5491B meters were out of calibration. This rarely happens with the 5491A units and then the A can easily be calibrated in house using a calibration switch under the face of the meter. This simple calibration method was removed in the design of the B model and now the units must be sent out for calibration which is costly, especially when compared to the appealing price of the new B meters. Save yourself some headaches and buy used 5491A models.

Excellent meter, but docs need improvement

Use cases: building DIY synthesizers, parts characterisation/matching, other general electronics applications

Pretty happy with this meter, overall. Seems to be reliable and does what I need it to do. I don't like the menu system much, and it isn't very well documented. I think if the documentation was a bit better in some areas - specifically around SCPI control and some complete walkthrough examples of using the pass/fail function, my rating would be 4.5 stars instead of 4.

Good Meter - Good Value

This meter definitely works good and does the job it was intended to. I like the BK meter but it isn't a Fluke... Much cheaper and very functional. Would buy again.
