Very good quality build Analog Variable AC power supply. Very stable output at various loads. I like the extra variable output for a pencil soldering iron. The leakage tester is great and works well. One drawback is the meter reads either voltage or current, you have to keep switching between them, it would be nice to have both displayed it the same time. Overall I’m very satisfied, 5 stars from me!

Isolated variable AC power and current limted

I have been needing an isolated AC power supply for some time now and finally settled on this BK 1655A. First of all, I love BK products, second this had all the features I was looking for, and third, the test probe was an extra. Unit took a while to get here, about 2 weeks, but it came well packed and shipped and not a single dent or scratch by the shippers. Setting it up was of course simple, and learning how to use it very straightforward - no surprises. The unit weighs a lot - this isn't some cheap power supply. Unit allows me to warm old equipment up slowly, check for shorts, and check for any hot spots I need to avoid. The power supply goes up beyond 120 volts but I doubt I will ever need to do that. I have checked the power on an oscilloscope and a volt meter and the meter appears to be within 3% accurate and I see a smooth AC wave in the output. Nice addition to my lab, don't plug in old vacuum tube equipment without one.

This is one great power supply. Hooked oscilloscope just to verify sinewave and look perfect. The volt meter was off just a little but within spec. One thing I found strange was the leakage probe has a fuse in it but there is no mention of it in the manual. The fuse has no marking so I don't know the value of it. The leakage tester leads are good quality silicone leads. Overall I am happy with this purchase.

Works great as an isolation transformer with variable power output. Its very well built and feels robust. I agree with the other reviews it would have been nice to have the probe detach, but its not too much bother.

I purchased this item from TEquipment.net which was a good experience. I am very happy with my purchase and over the last few months the unit has worked well. The 1655A has a clean and easy to use front panel with a nice accurate analog meter. Leakage testing is also a nice feature.
