Great on the go
5.0
Great little pocket meter. Pros: it has everything you might think of: AC and DC Volts, both HiZ (“normal”) and LoZ modes (to remove stray voltages, apply a load to check batteries or discharge capacitors), continuity check (latched, responsive, loud enough, with a nice representation of an ON/OFF switch on the display – but see “cons”), resistance, capacitance (not to be trusted for values under 1 nF, as in most other multimeters), AC and DC current (upper limit: 2 mA), diode check (no LEDs), frequency (the signal has to pass through 0, no duty cycle). It also sports a very sensitive electric field (EF) detector, which would tell you if a mains wire is energized without touching it. Tip: in EF mode, you can figure which wire is “hot” and which wire is “neutral” by touching it with one of the probes – the hot wire gives a stronger signal (the black probe works better, make sure you don’t touch the loose probe when you do so). The probes are nice, with notched tips and flexible wires. It comes with a small, high-quality carrying pouch in which everything fits nicely. As any Amprobe, it can be trusted for safety when probing mains voltages (it is also UL certified). Cons: the menu (selecting what you want to measure) is quite awkward and it takes quite a while to circle through the options by pressing the middle button until you get where you want to be. You’ll eventually get there, if you happen to be on the right position of the rotary switch (good luck figuring which position would that be for capacitance mode by just looking at the dial). Luckily, there is a very helpful menu chart on the back of the meter and there is also a lazy mode (they call it “Auto”), in which the meter figures for you what you want to measure (you just have to wait a little bit longer – not a big problem if you’re lazy in the first place). Also, it beeps continuously when measuring low ohm resistors (tens), as if you’d check continuity. I’d rather have the meter display the ohm value when checking for continuity (in continuity mode, instead of displaying a rough representation of an ON/OFF switch) and keep silent when measuring ohms, in resistance mode. Overall – not a replacement for a “real” meter, but highly recommended when needed on the go. Great addition to your messenger bag.

Amprobe PM55A
5.0
I bought this pocket multimeter to keep in my computer bag mostly for battery, continuity and live circuit testing. The unit is the perfect size and weight for portability. Build quality is very good. This Amprobe comes with a soft carrying case that doesn't add much to the size of the multimeter itself. It has a much greater number of functions than I'm likely to ever need and is quite easy to use. I had also looked at the Fluke 101 and went with the Amprobe because of its smaller size and weight and larger function set. To date, I'm certainly satisfied.

Most advanced "pocket" DMM on the market
5.0
There is no other meter I see available in this form factor, out there, like this meter, period!
This meter can do everything a larger hand-held meter can do, and more.
Most meters out there, are only 4,000 count, this mere pocket meter is 6,000 counts, which is unheard of in a pocket meter.
It can also measure current, which only a handful of pocket meters can do.
What I was looking for, this meter delivered, and even had a few interesting surprises.
I have had good experiences with the Amprobe PM51A, I literally did carry it in my pocket, but the screen would get scratched up! The PM51A had a hold/max hold button, which was nice, but not greatly missed. and this did not This meter has a black rubber holster, which I think looks really nifty and kind of funny (for a pocket meter to have a removable holster), and a cloth case. It's a very nice case, with one fairly sized large pocket and a loop...which I'm not entirely sure what it was meant for considering the limited space in the case.
Now of course, this meter, like any meter, has it's limitations. When I was soldering together a linear power supply kit, it had a really hard time reading the 0.18 Ohm 3W resistor, and was beeping in confusion. Also, it simply could not read the capacitance of the 2,200 uF capacitors,or the 4,700 uF capacitor, ...but then again, nether could my LCR meter!
Of course, I mean this as a joke, the is pocket meter is only rated at most 100uF, and 0.18 Ohm isn't easy for most meters anyway.
But a backlight might come in handy.
Anyway, this is a really great meter, with a lot of nice features, I could go on all day about this meter. If anyone is looking for an accurate, easy to ready (did I mention the digits are huge?), fairly quick meter, with most of the capability of a full size hand-held, then this is probably the best option...now if it was TRMS and could do temperature via IR laser, it would set the world on fire.

Great Product
4.0
I have had only 1 problem with this tester, if the metal probes on the testing leads were longer because I've ran into a couple types of receptacles that I couldn't get a reading on, but other than that it's a great, small, light weight tester that can fit in the breast pocket of your tee shirt.

Get One!!!
5.0
I'd get one but I already got one, It's small, seems pretty accurate. I like it but the only thing I would like for it is a hard protective case. I have a problem with keeping testers in my tool bag.
