Fluke IR Fusion

Overview

Fluke IR-Fusion® is a revolutionary thermal imaging technology that makes it easier for you, the user, to keep track of your findings and see problems in context as you would normally see. This is done by overlaying a thermal image with a standard digital image of the area under test. Fluke thermal imagers perfectly match the thermal and digital images down to the pixel so you can be sure your IR-Fusion® image is accurate.

When taking thermal readings with a Fluke Thermal Imager, the thermal images created by the camera are accurate and descriptive of temperature only. Problems can occur when you must keep track of many stored images without any context. IR-Fusion® can provide this context with multiple powerful tools to control how an image is displayed and stored - this includes full infrared, picture-in-picture mode, AutoBlend™, and IR/color alarms.

  • Full Infrared: This is the standard thermal imager display mode which shows a full screen infrared view for maximum detail. You can blend in visual details in this mode with AutoBlend™.
  • Picture-in-picture mode: In this mode, the center quarter of the display is infrared-only, visible-only, or a blend of the two using AutoBlend™. The remaining three quarters of the screen is visible only.
  • AutoBlend™: This feature allows you to blend partially transparent infrared and visible images into a single view for easy problem detection. It's available in full infrared and picture-in-picture modes.
  • Color Alarm mode: This mode highlights areas of interest that exceed user-defined high and low temperature levels. Choose from three settings:
    • Hot threshold: Any pixel in the image with a temperature above a specific temperature setting will appear in infrared colors.
    • Cold threshold: Any pixel in the image with a temperature below a specific temperature setting will appear in infrared colors.
    • Absolute range (isotherm): When the camera operator specifies both an upper and lower temperature threshold, any pixel with a temperature outside of this range will appear in infrared colors.

Fluke Thermal Imagers allow you to adjust IR-Fusion® blending percentage to create a thermal-heavy or digital-heavy image - this feature is called AutoBlend™. This combination of features permits the overlay of a partially transparent visible digital camera image with the thermal image right on the thermal camera display in real time. AutoBlend™ makes it possible to clearly see equipment identification such as wire labels, equipment tags, breaker descriptions, motor nameplates, and other key visual information in your thermal images. Three levels of blending are available in the thermal camera and continuous blending is available in the included Smartview® software. Without this technology, it would take much longer to pinpoint what in an image is actually hot. Below are 4 example images with varying levels of IR-Fusion® AutoBlend™ from 25% IR to 100% full IR.

Conclusion

Fluke IR-Fusion™ Technology provides the context you need in thermal images to make important decisions quickly by overlaying a thermal image with a standard digital image of the area under test in real time. Multiple display modes like picture-in-picture and color alarms allow you to tailor these thermal/visual images for maximum context in specific applications. Plus, AutoBlend™ allows you to blend visual and thermal images together, providing unmatched detail and context in thermal images. You can also tweak your images and adjust blending and image modes after capturing using Fluke's Smartview® software (included free with Fluke thermal cameras).

Below you will find some of Fluke's most popular thermal imaging cameras with IR-Fusion™. These industrial thermal imaging cameras provide high-resolution imaging and powerful features at an affordable price. These cameras are perfect tools for use in home inspections, energy audits, damage remediation, plant maintenance, auto repair, and even DIY home repair.
