FLIR E40bx Inspection Thermal Camera
IR Inspection & Diagnostic Power
The FLIR E40bx thermal imaging camera is part of FLIR's "bx" series of infrared cameras designed specifically for home inspection and building diagnostic applications. The E40bx includes multiple features intended to make work easier in these areas, including unique FLIR Alarm Alerts. FLIR Alarm Alerts, included with all FLIR "bx" thermal cameras, allow you to set alarms to alert you to humidity and dew point levels, as well as areas where insulation is lacking. This can make diagnosing building issues faster and easier for you. The E40bx also features a temperature range of -4 to 248°F (-20 to 120°C). This range is standard across all Exx-Series "bx" cameras and provides plenty of range for most home and building inspection applications.

FLIR MSX Thermal Fusion Technology
Thermal Fusion technology is common among thermal cameras on the market today. FLIR has incorporated its unique version of this technology, called MSX, into the E40bx infrared camera. FLIR MSX is uniquely different from other types of thermal fusion because instead of simply overlaying visible light and thermal images, FLIR MSX extracts highlights and details from visible light images then combines them with infrared images in-camera to create totally unique, detailed images. The resulting images feature crisp details like numbers, words, and structural features which are easily recognized. This is almost impossible to achieve with other thermal cameras. Just look at the images below to see the power of MSX.
Intuitive Touch Screen Interface
The FLIR E40bx features a bright, crisp 3.5 inch LCD touch screen interface. With the touch screen, users can adjust camera settings, change measurement modes, and review images all from one place. One touch is enough to add and adjust box areas, moveable spots, and more measurement tools. With the added convenience of FLIR Auto Orientation, the E40bx's touch screen is always upright and ready to use, no matter the environment or application. The E40bx also features a simple button interface, designed to be used one-handed even with gloves on. These have been designed with inspectors in mind.
FLIR Tools Mobile App
FLIR Tools Mobile is a free mobile app from FLIR, compatible with both Android and Apple devices. With the app and a Wi-FI connection, users can connect the E40bx to smartphones and tablets. Users can then stream live thermal video direct from the camera to the app. Users can also remotely adjust level and span, as well as add additional measurement tools. Images can then be imported from the camera, processed in the app, and added to professional PDF reports also created in-app. These reports can be easily created with FLIR Tools Mobile then sent out via email or other services direct from the app.
Alarm Alerts – The FLIR E40bx, as part of the FLIR "bx" series of infrared cameras, features FLIR Alarm Alerts. These alerts can be set to notify users to levels of humidity and dew point, as well as areas where insulation has failed. These can be crucial for home inspection applications.
FLIR Lens Options – The FLIR E40bx standard lens features a 25 degree field of view, a mid-range FOV good for most applications. FLIR also offers 15 degree telephoto and 45 degree wide angle lens options for the E40bx for more specialized applications.
Measuring Modes – The FLIR E40bx features a range of measuring modes inlcuding 3 spotmeters, 3 moveable area boxes, isotherm, auto hot/cold spot, and Delta T measuring. A scalable picture-in-picture mode with the option to use FLIR MSX is also available.
Annotations – The FLIR E40bx allows you to easily add voice or text comments to images. This makes inspections more streamlined and saves you time during the image analysis process.
